Hood 2 Coast Relay, Aug 26-27, 2005

Home Page

Ryan kindly included me in their 2005 Hood 2 Coast relay run team again. Ryan's Dad, Chuck, took great pictures, some of which are below. I improved on my time from last year, running 14.35 miles at an eight minute mile pace. Our individual results can be found here and our team results on the team standings page at http://www.hoodtocoast.com/htc/results/2005/htcrelay.htm and look for "Sole Survivors". We placed 242 / 1062 overall.

Lincoln and Allison put on another wonderful pre-race spaghetti feed where we met each other, got our instructions and decorated the vans.

The children were especially fun to be around and really enjoyed the van decoration part.

Pause for a picture while decorating vans.

Ready to start the race. Pictured from left to right is Ariana, Ryan, Emily, Christian, Jamie, and me. Ryan's Dad Chuck took the picture.

How we sat in the van. Ryan removes the back seats and places padding on the floor.

Pausing for a picture while meeting team one at the end of our second leg. We run three legs each, with each leg between 4 and 8 miles. The race took us just over 26 hours to complete. Sleep happens when the over van is running.

The silver clipboard is where we record times during runs. Ryan and Jamie finished their legs and Emily is now running her leg. There isn't much time to cool down before we need to speed ahead in the van to meet the next runner.

A picture at the finish, on the beach at Seaside. Because we didn't get to all finish together last year, Lindsay insisted we all participate in the photo finish this year. The traffic was horrible and it took us a long time to reach the finish line but we did our photo finish maybe 20 minutes after we really finished. This picture was taken shortly after that.
