Dog Mountain Hike, 2005

Home Page

OK, not really Dog Mountain but the week before visiting Susan, Bryan, and Kristen in Port Townsend at Dads. Pictured here are Niece Kristen and my sister, Susan.

Kristen and her Grandpa. Bryan, her Dad, is in the background.

Gracie and Rose both get a drink of water. Wild flowers are present even at the start of the trail.

Bright sun and a beautiful day at the lower elevations. The flowers appear to have just past their peak, about 2 weeks earlier than normal.

As we climb, the flowers become more plentiful and the mist makes for a more surreal feeling.

This picture shows more of the varieties of wildflowers but it is hard to get them in a picture.

Here I am at the very top. We climbed quite rapidly and are both a little tired but feel like we are getting in hill climbing shape, one of the goals along with seeing the beautiful wildflowers. Later in the season Rose will be hiking the steep trails of the White Mountains of New Hampshire and I will be hiking some of the Continental Divide Trail with Dad. We need the hill climbing practice :)
