Idaho Montana Border

On July 5th, 2005 Dad arrives at Chief Joseph Pass and hitchhikes to Salmon Idaho. The next day he takes the three times a week bus back to the pass and hikes with Amit and Paul for half a day to Big Hole Pass where he waits for me. I show up on July 7th and we hike together through the Bitterroot Range for the next four days.

Day 1 Looking toward the divideWe start hiking from Big Hole Pass together. I turn around after about 11 miles to mail a mail drop for Dad and drive to the next place we can park a car, over 50 miles down the trail.
Day 2 The meadow where Dad and I metI hike back to find Dad and by some miracle we locate each other. We hike back to the car and eat dinner together before Dad continues hiking.
Day 3 Hiking along the DivideI hike back to meet Dad from Lemhi Pass where Lewis and Clark usually crossed the divide. We have lunch together and Dad continues hiking.
Day 4 Dad continues on and I return to PortlandI hike back to meet Dad from Bannock Pass. Dad re-supplies, we eat lunch, and he continues hiking while I drive back to Portland.
