San Juan Mountains, Colorado

My friend Shing reminds me Labor Day is Sept 5th so I buy tickets to Albuquerque from Sept 1st through 5th so I can hike in the San Juan Mountains with Dad on the CDT.

Day 1 Dad a few miles beyond Spring Creek PassI arrive at Dad's hotel in Lake City early Thursday Morning and, after Dad goes out for breakfast, we drive to Spring Creek Pass and start hiking on the joint Continental Divide/Colorado Trail. I turn around after about 10 miles of hiking.
Day 2 The Window and the Rio Grande PyramidI hike up the Weminuche Trail to the Continental Divide trail and then to Ule Lake. Both Dad and I don't cover as much ground as we expect and we don't meet up with each other. The altitude is affecting me, over 12,000 feet.
Day 3 Above Ule LakeI'm not sure exactly which route Dad will take so spend the morning walking back and forth between the East Ute Trail and Ute Lake Trail. I meet Dad and we hike back down the trail I hiked up yesterday and then hike toward Squaw Pass. We don't make it near as far as we thought we would and realise we won't make it to our next planned meeting point at our current pace so we arrange a new meeting point near the Knife Edge tomarrow. I hike back to the car and drive to the next trailhead.
Day 4 Near Knife EdgeI hike 13 1/2 miles to our meeting point and Dad shows up an hour after I arrive. We then hike around the Knife Edge to Cherokee Lake. I hike back to the car and Dad continues hiking.
Day 5 Continental Divide SignI drive back to Albuquerque on the scenic route going by the same mountain passes and towns that Dad will hike through in a few days. I then fly back to Portland.
