Glacier National Park

On June 9th, 2005 Dad arrives by train in Portland, Oregon, his first train trip. The next day, Friday June 10th, we drive to Waterton Lakes National Park in Canada which is adjacent to Glacier National Park in the USA. Between June 11th and June 14th, 2005 I hike with Dad (and on my own) as he starts his CDT hike from Waterton Park, Alberta to Antelope Wells, New Mexico.

Day 1 Waterton Lake from Goat Haunt Ranger StationWe started hiking at 10:00 around Waterton Lake, across the border, and toward Fifty Mountain Camp and the Highline Trail.
Day 2 Ptarmigan Lake looking toward Ptarmigan TunnelI hiked to Ptarmigan Lake and the base of Swiftcurrent Pass, unaware that Dad is back at Waterton Park because there is too much snow on the Highline Trail for him to continue.
Day 3 Hiking along the Belly RiverWe hiked together on the Belly River Trail from Chief Mountain Customs. I turn around after about 4.5 miles and drive the "Going-to-the-Sun" road while Dad continues hiking.
Day 4 Canyons from Island in the SkyDad arrives in Many Glacier early and we hike on the Piegan Pass Trail until I have to turn around and drive back to Portland. I stop in East Glacier on the way back and meet Mike, who I drive to Two Medicine so he can get a permit. I hike while he gets his permit.
